PG VALOR INTERNSHIP & VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

All Interns and Volunteers MUST HAVE A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS and ID

 

Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring Opportunities

Opportunities could (not guaranteed) turn into compensated positions with the team upon successful completion of your internship period as outlined in your initial agreement.  

League:  American Basketball Association (ABA)
Location: games will be played in the gym located (TBD). However, this team is a competitive team and a travels to play other teams in other cities and states. Interns are not required to travel, and if they do decide to travel, do so at their own cost and responsibility.

Availability:      Some Immediate positions available. Marketing and Sales terms open now.         
Opportunities: Sales, Marketing, Media, Business, Various Intern positions (See Below)
Duration:  April 2016 to April 2017 of the ABA Season (could extend if team makes it to Playoffs and Championship games)
Hours: 15-30 hours per week, and on Game Days
Pay: Commission

 

This ABA team is looking for hardworking, dedicated, students to intern for the 2016 - 2017 Season. Interns will gain valuable hands on experience which will benefit them in future endeavors.

Qualifications:

  • College or High School Student for credits. Volunteers are welcome at least 14 or older for volunteer hours/general assistance.

  • Good communication and organizational skills (MANDATORY)

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and the InternetAble to work in a team environment

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite a plus

  • Must be mature and professional

  • Must be able to speak and understand English is necessary.  Bi Lingual (English/Spanish a plus)

  • Go Getters and Self motivated

  • Must be able to work independently in a team environment

  • Able to maintain accurate accounting records

 

 

Executive Assistant: (Reports to the Owner) Assist the team owner in coordinating both on and off season day to day and long term operations of the team. Coordinating travel and lodging for away games; provides compiled weekly report of all other departments to owner; planning and scheduling meetings and appointments; managing projects and conducting research; preparing and editing correspondence, reports, and presentations.

 

Director of Marketing: (Reports to Owner) Marketing Director: Develop relationships with local small and large businesses, churches and organizations  to find out what their marketing and sales needs are, in order to put together a Sponsorship package for them.  The position requires inside/outside cold calling, to develop leads.  Follow-up is a major piece to this position, along with being able to close the deal.  You must be comfortable with speaking professionally with business owners, and decision makers. This position also requires you to continue to have the PG VALOR SPORTS involved in Community based events, and activities.  You will be asked to research local community events for the PG VALOR SPORTS to appear at for continuous visibility. This position is a Commission based internship. (1  Director and 1 Assistant Director)

 

Public Relations Assistants: (Reports to the Director of Marketing) This position requires you to work directly with the Director of Marketing, in order to continue to brand the PG VALOR SPORTS.  You will assist in Cold call ALL local businesses, in order to sell them Season, Group, and Individual tickets.  This position requires both Inside/Outside marketing, with the need to speak with the decision maker. Programs for Non-Profits and for Profit Company’s group ticket sales.  Student/Senior ticket sales, also, corporate group sales, along with individual game-by-game sales. Also contacting community leaders, and organizers, to introduce the PG VALOR SPORTS to communities in the PG County and surrounding areas.  Your role will be to help identify newspaper/TV direct contacts for interviews and information.  You will assist in making the PG VALOR SPORTS a house-hold name in the State of MD. This position is a Commission based internship. (10 positions to fill.  May be willing to accommodate up to 25)

 

Team Assistant/Assistant to the Coaching Staff :  (Reports to Head Coach) This position will work with the Coaching staff, Spokesman, and Director of Community Affairs. You will assist the coaches in tryouts, practices, game day preparation for home/away teams, and uniform preparation and issuance. Responsibilities include recording statistics for every home and away game, collaborating with other departments to update website, and creating press releases. Individual must have knowledge of the game of basketball and also be creative.  During community events, and interview/appearances, you will work with the staff on basketball related issues, such as; fan interaction, and promotion.  (3 positions to fill-2 Assistant Coaches- 1 Stats Person)

 

Fan Interaction/Entertainment Coordinator: (Reports to Director of Marketing) This position requires an innovative individual that loves working with people in a fun, and exciting manner. You must be able to develop and run in-game activities with fans.  You must have an energetic, outgoing personality, with the ability to get fans, both adults and kids involved in game-day activities, and games. You will coordinate National Anthem presentation; pre-game; and  half time shows. (3 positions to fill-1 Coordinator, 1 Assistant Coordinator and 1 Mascot)

 

Videographer/Photographer: Team Videographer/Photographer (Reports to Director of Marketing) Video and Photograph ALL PG VALOR SPORTS team events and home games, for use on the PG VALOR SPORTS website, social media pages, and marketing material, including and not limited to newspaper/TV, etc….  Preference will be given to individual with existing equipment for use and/or editing experience.  (3 positions to fill 1 Videographer and 2 Photographers)

 

Game Day Operations: Game Day Intern(s):  (Reports to Owner) Game day set-up; from assisting game day staff with tickets, home/away teams, concessions, PG VALOR SPORTS store, fan participation, fan control, and end of game breakdown. (15 positions to fill)

 

Webmaster/Social Media Coordinator:  (Reports to Public Relations Assistant) Maintains official website of PG VALOR SPORTS, PG VALOR SPORTS Dance/Cheer and PG VALOR SPORTS Band. Also maintains a strong social media presence and conducts extensive viral marketing campaigns. (1 position to fill)

 

Band Director:  (Reports to Owner) Coordinate all music and organization of the band. Plan, rehearses and directs musical experiences for the team and community during pregame, game  and any other performances made by the band. Seeks, initiates and implements participation of the band and band member in out of gym experiences. Maintains a music log and library for team. Promotes awareness of the band through communications and relevant audiences. MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL HOME GAMES. (2 positions to fill 1 Director and 1 Assistant)

 

Assistant Spirit Squad Coach: (Reports to Owner) responsible for the supervision, operations and development of the PG VALOR SPORTS Cheer and Dance program (Velocity Cheerleaders). Provide instruction to the team by developing and clearly communicating program policies and prioritizing safety. Manage scheduling for all games, practices, community appearances, camps and competitions. Must be present at all home games. Lead all fundraising efforts for the Cheer and Dance team. Research strategy and collaborate with PG VALOR SPORTS marketing staff on in game performances; and out of gym appearances (minimum 3 per season).  (1 position to fill)

 

Team Fashion Designer and Seamstress:  (Reports to Owner) PG Valor Sports is currently looking to bring an experienced seamstress on staff. Person will be responsible for sewing spirit squad uniforms, flags, streamers, mascot uniform,  etc. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE and able to provide HIGH QUALITY WORK. Perfect for fashion and design majors.

 

HS Students can get volunteer service hours.
